I am an empathetic extrovert and a classic Gemini with my relationships feeding my soul from every angle. Some of my favorite things to do are bring good people together, forge lasting connections, and build community and wellness around me. I love talking to strangers, and I love to travel anywhere my family, friends or minivan will take me. I love to dress way up and way down and visit any place where those looks are welcome. I love all-things bodywork and breath. I love poetry. I love to listen, and most of all, laugh.
After experiencing the loss of her parents and the closing of her business during the pandemic, SMC founder, Amy Hopkins, channeled her grief into action. On New Year’s Day, 2021, she and a friend decided to dip daily in the 40 degree Maine ocean to shake up the depression and isolation that had scarred the last year. It worked. Amy has since created the community, “Dip Down to RISE Up” - a metaphor honoring life’s inevitable ups and downs, the power and patience of the ocean and mountains, and our body’s exquisite physiology that constantly strives to bring balance to our nervous system.
Through daily practice, our appreciation for the best cold-water dipping apparel and gear has grown. We’ve placed passionate and practical thinking into our merchandise choices, and we continue to grow our selection. A percentage of our net profits from our sales is donated to NAMI Maine, with whom we are proud “partners in hope.” We hope you love wearing, sharing and gifting our goods.
